• New Online Marketing Tips

    digital marketing

So, let’s cut to the chase.  How do you take advantage of the brand new online marketing tips that are all over out there?  Here is a list of the common factors that will affect your online marketing campaigns.  These factors will affect key results such as ROI, cost per click, conversion rates, and quality score, (when talking about pay per click marketing, which is one of the new online marketing tips).

    Marketing Online

    Marketing Online

The first thing you need to understand when implementing the new online marketing strategies is that your keyword quality score will drive the success of any online marketing campaign.  The quality score is a measure of relevance for your ad.  The search engine, whether Google, Yahoo, MSN, or any of the others look for relevant ads that match most closely the subject matter that the customer is looking for.  For example, if you have are advertising hiking backpacks and your ad links to a webpage selling hiking shoes, your quality score will be poor.  This will increase your cost on the new online marketing campaign and you will end up getting “slapped” by Google!  This is not what we want.  So here’s the first new online marketing tips :

    1. Your ad needs to be relevant to the landing page.  The landing page is the first page your customers will see when they click on your ad.  In the case above, we were speaking of hiking backpacks.  If you’re advertising hiking backpacks, it would be wise to link to the page of your site that is selling the hiking backpacks.  This will improve your relevancy between the ad and the landing page.
    2. The second new online marketing tip relates to your keyword selection.  It is wise to select low competition keywords.  Google AdWords has a free keyword research tool that will give you relative competition numbers to determine which keywords are searched the most and how competitive the bids are for those keywords.  Try to stay with the long tail keywords.  Long tail keywords are those that are 3 words or more in one keyword phrase.  Long tail keywords have less competition.
    3. Here’s my favorite new online marketing tip:  include a sitemap on your website.  This will make it easier for the search engine’s spiders to find and index your page.  As long as your page is relevant, you’ll be fine and will get a better quality score.

I hope these tips are helpful to you.  They have helped me to drastically improve my pay per click campaign results!  I’m sure they’ll improve yours as well.  Good luck and go get ’em.

  • Keys To Successful Online Marketing

    internet marketing

Several times a week, I speak with perplexed business owners who understand they need to do a better job with their online marketing; these owners want to create qualified leads and generate more revenue but find online marketing to be overwhelming. I even speak with long-time marketers who find certain parts of online marketing difficult to grasp.

    online marketing

    online marketing

The confusion is understandable. Keeping up with changes in online marketing is a full-time job. The big players like Google, Facebook, and Linked in regularly move the goalposts. And new technologies emerge every hour. I want to simplify and demystify online marketing by providing these keys to successful online marketing.

    1. The Business Model is THE Fundamental. Your business model is the foundation of your marketing. Simply saying, “I want more business” won’t achieve the results you want. Successful online marketing begins with a clear vision of the direction of the business and the revenue goals.
    2. Use Direct Marketing. Yes-building and maintaining ‘brand integrity’ is important but getting people to buy what you sell is much, much more important. So this means using a direct response approach to selling. Yes-there’s room for creativity and fun but you must apply the fundamentals of direct marketing if you want your online marketing to produce a significant ROI. If you know everything there is to know about direct marketing, proceed to key #4.
    3. Learn Everything You Can about Direct Marketing. Attend seminars. Read books. Hire a direct marketing expert for a day. Understanding direct marketing is one of the best investments you can ever make in your business.
    4. Only Work with Direct Marketing Specialists. If you’re hiring internally, find employees who really understand direct response. If you’re hiring consultants or an agency, make sure they’re card carrying members of the ‘direct response’ party.
    5. Get the Strategy Correct. I’m all for companies plunging in and getting started right away. Eventually, you have to base your online marketing on a sound strategy.
    6. Measure Everything. Test. Find out what’s working and what’s not and move forward based on real data-not hunches.
    7. Get Traffic but Don’t Overspend. You can generate website traffic through pay per click, search engine optimization, online advertising and, get this, the mail…but don’t overspend. Again…measure everything so you allocate resources to what works. Understand the havoc Google’s “Stupid Tax” can wreak on your marketing budget.
    8. Use Old School Tactics. Guarantees. Testimonials. Upwelling. Downselling. It’s all extremely effective.
    9. Get Current Customers to Buy More. Getting customers is hard so work to maximize lifetime value.
    10. Build and Maintain a Huge Database. You may not be able to get people to buy immediately. That’s life. But get them to opt into a database and nurture the leads.
    11. Remember that Content is King. When you provide information to current and prospective customers, make sure the information (the content) is extremely valuable. Investing in superior content is a relatively inexpensive way to separate yourself from the competition.
    12. Study and Emulate the Greats. The great ‘offline’ marketers quickly became the great ‘online’ marketers by taking the same strategies that worked in print and applying them to the online marketplace. Study the big names of the online world and emulate them.
    13. Make it Simple. Make your website easy to navigate. And make it easy to buy. Many companies spend small fortunes on their online marketing only to see it fail-because the website is difficult to use.
    14. Use Social Media to Generate Leads and Traffic. Social media is not a strategy. It’s one of many tools to generate leads.
    15. Enjoy the Online Marketing Journey. Getting it right is a lot of fun and I enjoy helping clients succeed. Follow the proven principles knowing that you’ll succeed.
    16. Bring Your Personality to the Fore. We don’t gravitate to boring people and we don’t like boring websites. So give your online marketing plenty of personality.

Notice something important in this article: I rarely mention the technology. I’m much more interested in results, which is why I’m focused on proven marketing strategies and tactics. The technology is the latest tool we use to get customers and clients to buy products and services.

  • Steps To Success In Online Marketing

    internet marketing sukses

While creating a successful marketing campaign has never been easy, the advent of online marketing has simplified the process somewhat, while at the same time putting it directly into the hands of the online marketer. It is our hope that by following these Online Marketing Tips we can simplify the process further, allowing you and your marketing campaign to benefit from these  Steps to Success in online marketing.

    The Components of Online Marketing

There are three basic components to online marketing: the blog, the website, and the Social Network. A blog allows you to share information, the fundamental purpose of the Internet, while a website allows you to promote your business. Using the Social Network to spread the word among vast numbers of online users has also become fundamental to a successful online marketing campaign. Understanding the effective use of these three components of online marketing will greatly enhance your campaign, while at the same time vastly improving your chances for success.

    The Blog

Your blog is where you can really shine as an individual; sharing your knowledge, experience, and expertise. This is where folks will get to know you and, though this notion frightens some, putting yourself out there is crucial to the success of your online marketing campaign. It almost goes without saying that people prefer buying from someone they know and trust – almost. If they don’t trust you, why should they buy from you? And, if they don’t know you, how can they trust you?

    blog

    blog

By sharing a bit of yourself, your knowledge, experience, goals, and values, you create an emotional bond with your prospective customer or client. By allowing them to share a bit of your world, through a combination of written content, pictures, even audio and video, they will feel as if they are getting to know you. This can only lead to increased trust. Your blog is the best possible place to do this. You can even begin to interact with individuals here, by encouraging comments, “shares,” and “follows,” which will further increase their trust in you.

    The Website

Your website, as an extension of your blog, is where your product or service will shine. This is where folks will begin to understand the benefits of doing business with you. Once you’ve generated a personal connection through your blog, as well as building a sense of trust, sharing the benefits of your product or service becomes a natural extension of the new online relationship you’ve created with your prospect. Here is where all the traditional tools of advertising and marketing come into play: text, imagery, audio, and video; with video becoming ever more important.

Your website is the ideal venue in which to explain the features and benefits of your product or service; with great emphasis on the benefits. Just as with traditional advertising and marketing, explaining how your product or service will improve the lives of your prospects is paramount. Do not get caught up in why it’s the best; instead, show them why it’s the best for them.  Video is, of course, the ideal medium for showing almost anything, but its best use is for showing your prospect how they will benefit from the use of your product or service. Seeing your product in use; seeing others enjoying the benefits of your service; seeing you demonstrate the usefulness of your product, can only enhance their esteem for what you might do for them. Your website is the perfect platform on which to accomplish this, as virtually all hosting sites offer the ability to embed video in your site.

    The Social Network

Using the Social Network, sites like Facebook and Twitter, as well as the professional networking site LinkedIn, will help to spread your message across the Internet, and the world. The sheer numbers involved dictate your presence here. If you think of your Facebook profile as an extension of your blog and your Facebook Page as an extension of your website, with literally hundreds of millions of possible viewers daily, you begin to understand the importance of the Social Network as another tool in your online marketing strategy. The potential exposure here is awesome, and staggering.

Because Facebook is so popular, with 750 million active users, and because these users love to share information, each of them generating about 90 pieces of fresh content per month, the potential for any single piece of information being shared is mind-blowing. In fact, if just one person shares your information, it has the potential to reach 16,900 people within a couple of days. From there, there is no limit, because every new share increases the possible views of your information by nearly 17,000 users, every other day or so.

The sharing of information on Twitter, known as Tweets, is nearly as popular. These short, 140 character snippets of information have the potential to reach more than half-a-million users several times a day. Further, due to the nature of sharing information on Twitter, the short, to-the-point style, it is ideal for mobile sharing; evidenced by the 182% increase in mobile Tweets in the last year. Putting your information right into the hands of your prospect, even when not in front of a computer, makes it a wonderful resource for promoting your product or service. For business-to-business marketing, the power of LinkedIn is nearly as impressive. While the sheer numbers may not be as staggering, the audience is more narrowly targeted, creating an ideal marketplace for B2B promotion.

    The Elements of Online Marketing

As with any marketing campaign, content is king. The use of text to explain yourself, enhanced by imagery to generate a more personal connection; as well as audio and video to promote your business are the four crucial elements of a successful online marketing campaign.

    Text

Written content is, always has been – and always will be, the foundation of the online world, including online marketing. Without relevant, timely, well-written text content, online communication becomes virtually impossible. Enhancing your content with imagery, audio, and video is all well and good but, without compelling text, your online marketing campaign is likely to fail. The sharing of information is what the Internet is all about. Without quality written content you will become marginalized at best, and ignored completely at worst.

    Imagery

Seeing you is as important as “hearing” you, i.e., reading what you have to say. By planting an image of you in the minds of your prospect, you enhance the personal connection and sense of trust you’re working so hard to foster. Due to the advances in digital image generation, it is easier than ever to place pictures of yourself, your business, even your satisfied customers on your blog or website. Being shy will get you nowhere. As explained above, promoting yourself, as well as your business, is essential to a successful online marketing campaign. Imagery enhances this.

    Audio

As another tool for creating an online presence, audio is very inexpensive and offers additional benefits to those who use it properly. Especially when text becomes convoluted or confusing, such as instructional content on product usage for example, audio can bring clarity to your informational offering. Audio is also a great way to share information from other experts in your field. Audio interviews can be done conveniently and inexpensively, and will enhance your reputation as someone who is willing to share important information; regardless of the source.

    Video

Video has become nearly as important as text in online communication, especially in online marketing. Video can be used to personalize your relationship with your prospect; to explain complicated product features; to display product or service benefits; as “How to” and tutorial enhancements. In fact, the possibilities for the use of video in online marketing are almost endless. With the advent of inexpensive easy-to-use video editing technologies and online video production sites, as well as the incredible popularity of online video platforms, video is fast becoming the default method of expression.

Using YouTube to promote marketing videos has become nearly as universal as the use of the Social Network; with numbers equally staggering. Beyond sheer numbers however, there is the propensity of YouTube viewers to share the videos they enjoy. This then, is the reason for posting your marketing videos to YouTube. Creative, entertaining videos get shared by millions and the chance that your video might “go viral” is more than enough reason to post there. While online marketing does share many of the same characteristics of traditional advertising, it is the ability to build relationships over time with your prospects which make it so attractive; to say nothing of the convenience factor found in shopping online. By following these Online Marketing Tips, and by remaining faithful to the 7 Steps to Success, you will be able to profit directly from the advantages inherent in this multi-faceted marketing world.

  • The New Age of Digital Marketing

    digital marketing

The new age of digital marketing has proved to be greatly popular amongst today’s most successful Internet businesses and corporations. The current marketing methods of the modern Internet have given birth to companies, which in turn, have lead to the rise of other ventures.

Since the mid to late 1990’s popular websites such as Yahoo.com, Ask.com, and Answers.com have at some point sold advertising space on their respective domains. The idea of selling advertising room on a website is growing rapidly, even the world renowned Google.com has recently started getting in on the act; they have begun selling space to other various Internet companies such as auction giant eBay.com.

    marketing digital

It is easy for one to see how placing an advertisement on Google’s site would tremendously improve a business’ chance of success. The same has been true of Yahoo since its inception in 1994. Yahoo’s success in attracting visitors via a number of ways such as games, videos, and free E-mail has made their site prime Internet real estate. And so the cycle begins, Yahoo started marketing themselves on television which resulted in more traffic, thus more advertising revenue for the company.

Digital marketing on the web has grown to such a point where online businesses have been known to both spend and earn advertising costs. Consequently, the job market improves as more jobs are created, based on this model. Marketing digitally represents advancements in the tactics of advertising by keeping up with the ever rapidly progressing world of technology.
